Title: Alkalinity of paper as calcium carbonate (alkaline reserve of paper)
Overview
This method describes the qualitative and quantitative determination of the alkalinity and/or alkaline reserve of paper. The detection limit of the qualitative test is approximately 5% calcium carbonate. The quantitative test determines the alkalinity expressed as moles per kilogram of paper. The calculation of alkalinity assumes that all the alkaline material neutralized in the test procedure was calcium carbonate.
Samples
This test is performed in duplicate. A sample size of 5 grams of paper is recommended.
